The ThermoWorks Food Check thermometer is a pricey unit that delivers excellent accuracy and rapid response times. It cannot be left in the oven/grill while cooking.
This unit has an optional boot that will give the unit a splash-resistant environmental rating of IP65. There is a straight cable, not coiled, between the thermometer and the probe that is 20″/50cm long with a rubber strain-relief at each end. The probe cannot be detached from the main unit. The thermometer has an on/off switch and no other features. It can be switched from F to C, and the unit will auto-shutoff after 10 minutes. The battery life is specified at 10,000 hours, so you might never need to change them.

This is a very well-made unit with fine performance, but with a high price and few features. We’ll give it a Silver medal for basic excellence.
