The Pro Pots 1.5 Quart Football Slow Cooker is a self-contained warmer for small items like wings or sauces. It holds about 1.5 quarts (1.5 L) of liquid or solids in a removeable stoneware insert. An inner cover sits on the stoneware insert, and a larger cover with a decorative “football laces” design encloses everything on top. The electrical cord includes a three-position switch: off, low, and high. The cord itself is pretty short at 28 inches (71 cm), probably for safety reasons. The Pro Pot 1.5 Quart Football Slow Cooker measures about 9 x 14 x 8 inches (23 x 36 x 20 cm), slightly larger than a real football.
There is no temperature control beyond the low/high switch. This means that the cooker will only heat to either low (160°F/71°C) or high (190°F/88°C) in a room at 72°F/22°C). It heats very slowly. With 1.25 quarts (1.2 L) of cool water in the stoneware insert, covered, it took a couple hours to reach the set temperature.
If all you want to do is keep a small quantity of something warm, this warmer will work fine. If you want to actually cook something, you’ll have to wait a while. I could see this product being used for a football-themed get-together to keep food hot, but it’s not a serious cooking appliance. The build quality is nice, it all fits together well, and the insert is easy to remove for cleaning. But don’t submerge the cooker itself. The exterior temperature of the cooker also stays at a safe level, so you can pick it up (after the final extra point?).
I can’t quite recommend the Pro Pots 1.5 Quart Football Slow Cooker for cooking, but it’s a great gadget for keeping appetizers, chili, pulled pork, sauces, and other food warm at your tailgating or couchgating football party. Pro Pots should remove their misleading claim that it is a “versatile slow-cooker” and just call it what it is. Most buyer’s reviews on Amazon are positive, coming from people who used it as a fun, decorative serving device.
