The ThermoWorks ThermaQ 2 is a four-channel thermometer that accepts K-type thermocouple probes. It supports lower and upper alarm settings, as well as interfacing with the ThermoWorks Billows thermostatic controller.
ThermoWorks sells a wide variety of thermocouple probes. For our purposes, a cooker probe with a grill clip and a food probe are the logical choices, which ThermoWorks supplies in this kit. You can use other probes based on your needs as well.
Display
The display shows two channels at a time. Each channel displays the current probe’s temperature; the channel’s minimum and maximum temps since powering up; the alarm setting (on/off); and the lower and upper alarm thresholds. The volume setting applies to all channels. There is a backlight that can be toggled on and off, but will time out after 30 seconds to save battery life.
Each channel has an upper and lower alarm threshold that displays when the alarm function is active for that channel. When the threshold is crossed, the temp and alarm limit will flash and the audible alert will sound. The unit can display temps in either °F or °C, selectable by holding the power button down for several seconds.
You can calibrate the device if necessary. The thermometer can also interface via a USB port with the Billows fan blower and provides temperature control for wood or charcoal-burning cookers.

Features
The thermometer comes with a zippered case and a silicone boot to protect the thermometer from impact damage.
The case is robust and well-sealed, giving the unit an IP67 dust and moisture rating. The kit includes three AAA batteries which supply the thermometer’s power.
The wide variety of K-type thermocouple probes makes the ThermaQ 2 a versatile cooking thermometer. Company contact info includes an e-mail address and telephone number in case help is needed.
We’re giving the ThermoWorks ThermaQ 2 a Gold Medal based on the quality of construction and useful features.
