The Grillery Fireplacer is a very cool indoor cooking device that turns your existing wood fireplace into a BBQ grill. The main up and down travel shaft bolts to the side of a masonry fireplace. After initial installation, no tools are required. Just drop in the lift frame and grate support arm, insert the crank wheel and go! Everything clicks on then lifts off. The main travel shaft is 18″ long and can be cut if needed to fit your fireplace. Grilling in a fireplace can be messy. The Argentine V-grates could mitigate this problem by channeling drippings into the front catch pan.
As with all Grillworks equipment, this is beautiful and very high quality, but pricey for a fireplace insert. Even Grillworks acknowledges this unit is not for everyone: “The Fireplacer is designed for people who have a small existing fireplace that will occasionally be used for cooking. Our larger and more flexible Architectural models are designed for fireplaces, enclosures or spaces that will be used often for cooking, or are dedicated to it as in patio projects, kitchens or restaurants.”
