Think Of This Grinder As a Flavor Enhancer
Whole coffee beans and whole spices keep better than ground. Buy stuff whole and you’ll get better flavor. Pick up a coffee grinder for the freshest coffee and for reducing peppercorns to crushed pepper, for powdering celery seeds, anise, caraway, dried chiles, bay leaves, and other dried spices and dried herbs.
Get one with a blade instead of with burrs, and make sure it is easy to clean if you plan to use it for both coffee and spices. You don’t want to hear this: “Honey, why does the coffee make me cry today?”. I like my Krups GX4100 because it does all of the above at a reasonable price.
