YETI Rambler Insulated Bowls Review And Rating

Stacked YETI insulated bowls

YETI Rambler Bowls go the distance when traveling with hot or cold foods

Whether you host guests in the backyard or tailgate before the big game, YETI’s insulated Rambler storage and serving bowls can handle any challenge.

Available in three sizes (1 quart, 2 quarts, and 4.5 quarts), each YETI Rambler insulated bowl uses double-wall vacuum insulation for temperature retention. The design allows you to keep hot dishes like queso, pulled pork, and all-purpose chili warm for hours and cold dishes like deli-style coleslaw, old fashioned potato salad, and grilled salsa cool for just as long.

Composition

Made from 18/8 kitchen-grade stainless steel, each YETI Rambler bowl resists punctures and rust. Additionally, each bowl includes a heavy-duty clear Tritan lid, similar to those on Rambler mugs, to keep out bugs and debris between bites. The lids also feature a silicone gasket that seals tightly with a simple press, eliminating worries about spills, especially when transporting leftovers after Thanksgiving or tailgating. Keep in mind, the bowls are spill-resistant but not spill-proof, so store them upright.

To remove the lids, simply push up on the side tabs—easy peasy! The lids also feature a small hole to allow steam to escape from hot dishes when sealed. Both the bowls and lids are dishwasher-safe, cutting down on cleanup after your gathering.

Three YETI insulated bowls nested

The bowls nest together, with each size fitting inside the next—even with the lids on. This design reduces the storage space needed between cookouts, camping trips, and tailgating adventures. It’s especially helpful when you’re juggling a lot of gear at the campsite or need to maximize storage space in an RV.

Size

The large (4.5 quart) bowl measures 10.5″W x 10″D x 5″H and weighs 3.67 lbs. The medium (2 quart) bowl measures 8.1″W x 7.6″D x 4.2″H and weighs 1.86 lbs. The small bowl measures 6.5″W x 6.0″D x 3.4″H and weighs 1.06 lbs. The largest size also has a non-slip rubber ring on the bottom to prevent it from getting knocked off the table by a stray elbow. For those who prefer a shallower bowl, Yeti offers Rambler Low Bowls in small (6.5″W x 6.0″D x 2.3″H), medium (8.1″W x 7.6″D x 3.1″H), and large (10.5″W x 10″D x 3.9″H).

Temperature Tests

To test temperature retention, I first filled the medium 2-quart bowl with cold water. The YETI Rambler bowl maintained a temperature of 40°F for nearly six hours with the lid firmly in place, aside from slight bumps due to hourly temperature checks. After six hours, the water temperature began to rise slowly. For the warm food test, I filled the medium bowl with hot water at 110°F before sealing the lid. After one hour, the temperature dropped to 105°F, 100°F after two hours, 92°F after three hours, 86°F after four hours, and 82°F after five hours. Since I removed the lid every hour, the bowl likely retains higher heat longer if you keep the lid sealed.

Usage Warnings And Recommendations

You can purchase the bowls individually or as a set. Do not microwave the bowls, as personal injury could occur. Avoid freezing them, as it can damage the vacuum seal. Never cook in or heat the bowls over an open flame or in the oven. When washing the bowls in the dishwasher, the manufacturer recommends removing the gasket from the lid and placing it in the utensil compartment.

Warranty

YETI offers a five-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. YETI will replace the product at their discretion if it was purchased within the warranty period.

Medal

Given the quality construction and ability to maintain safe temperatures for warm and cold food for multiple hours, I award the YETI Rambler insulated bowls a Platinum medal.
